Three years of European expansion as the foundation for in-house development
Paris, France — 15 December 2022 — Genèse Labs has expanded its distribution network to more than seven European countries between 2020 and 2022, building the commercial infrastructure that would underpin its later transition to in-house product development.
• Distribution network extended to more than seven European countries over three years
• Steady growth achieved despite pandemic-era clinic closures and supply-chain disruption
• A deliberate country-by-country approach prioritising partner retention over uniform speed
• In-house regulatory capability established as a service distributors genuinely value
An approach to a fragmented European market
Although the European Union operates under a single cosmetics regulation, the aesthetics market in practice varies considerably from country to country in clinical convention, practitioner licensing and consumer expectation. A product that performs strongly in one market frequently requires entirely different positioning in another. Rather than pursuing uniform expansion, Genèse Labs adopted a country-by-country approach — selecting partners who already held established clinical networks and adapting training materials to each market’s treatment standards. This slowed early growth but produced far stronger results in partner retention.
Regulatory capability as a commercial asset
The European market presents a structural reality: only lawfully notified products may be distributed within the EU. For many suppliers this becomes a persistent bottleneck, and reliance on external agencies costs both money and responsiveness. By building regulatory capability in-house, Genèse Labs was able to guarantee its partners complete documentation and a rapid response to the authorities — an administrative function that, in practice, became a service distributors valued in its own right.
Laying the groundwork for in-house development
By the end of 2022, the network had produced an asset more valuable than revenue: a continuous flow of information about which product categories were going unmet, which formulations practitioners were requesting but could not source, and where existing products fell short in handling and longevity. This accumulated knowledge became the direct basis for the company’s decision to become a brand owner and develop products under its own name.
“Building a durable network through a volatile period taught us where the market’s real gaps were. That knowledge — not the revenue — is what made in-house development the natural next step.” — Genèse Labs, Company statement
